Marudurai Patteeswarar Temple

The Marudurai Patteswarar Shiva Temple, built during King Karikala Chola's reign, holds special significance among my fondest memories of temples. In 2005, as the grandeur of the once prominent temple faded, I began work on its construction, becoming deeply involved in working with temple architects to shape the designs, taking design inspiration from other key temple architectures to administrative duties including securing the required materials and permits. The construction of the five-tiered “Gopuram,” a spiritual beacon, was one of the most challenging aspects, requiring meticulous attention to every detail. Gradually, the outer pavilions and the courtyards were also eventually restored to serve the temple community. The five year long calling resulted in its eventual consecration in 2012, bringing an immense satisfaction and peace in having contributed to a lasting piece of history and culture.
